About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Painter and Insulation Lead to join our Metal Shop team. The Painter and Insulation Lead is responsible for the application of a wide range of industrial liquid coatings which may include one, two or three-coat procedures to manufactured products in accordance with the specification of the OEM, R&D, and Customer.

Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Perform “Power-Wash” and other pre-painting activities on parts in preparation for painting/fabrication.
  • Apply a variety of industrial coatings to fabricated metal products.
  • Utilize instrumentation to measure painting parameters to ensure compliance with the specifications.
  • Responsible for the application of industrial coatings in confined spaces.
  • Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished product meets design and engineering requirements.
  • Suggest tools and equipment to improve the operation of the unit.
  • Adhere to all OHS and WHMIS Procedures with respect to the storage and handling of materials in the area.
  • Responsible for reporting malfunctions of equipment or processing to the supervisor.
  • Installing insulation on pipes per drawings/patterns/instructions.
  • Inspecting the pipe and insulating it with materials such as fiberglass, foam, ceramic wool.
  • Estimating the amount of material needed for each job and ordering supplies.

  • Proven experience in painting and insulation techniques, preferably in a metal fabrication or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of paint types, application methods, and color mixing.
  • Familiarity with insulation materials, tools, and installation methods.
  • Knowledge of safety standards in the production environment.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to chemicals and hazardous materials. The worker is required to use personal protective equipment including masks, gloves, respirator, etc.


The metal shop environment has a noise level that requires the use of ear plugs.

The employee regularly works 40-50 hours per week.

Job Details


  • This is a full-time permanent position. Eight (8) hour, day shift from Monday to Friday.
  • Headingley, MB R4H 0A9 : reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
  • $22.00 per hour.
